|Description:||This theme includes papers and articles which explore the meanings attributed to key phrases and attempt to define key concepts within the field of internationalisation as it relates specifically to learning, teaching and assessment practice and curriculum design and delivery in higher education. Many contributions provide concrete examples of activities to support multicultural learning and embed international dimensions in curricula. The student voice is apparent in research that engages student expectations, attitudes and behaviours. For the international student in particular, transition emerges as a key theme and for example, the reader is encouraged to consider how to incorporate critical thinking skills in learning and support structures without adopting either a deficit or assimilationist approach. Authors represented here are similarly concerned with how the home student experiences internationalisation and the issues intercultural communication creates for them. Given the outcomes of such work it is perhaps unsurprising that in terms of curriculum design the major issues emerging are how to design effective multicultural group work encounters and how to promote engagement, interaction and integration between home and international students on campuses across the globe.|
